Lucas' FIRST visit to the Farm

I thought my days of "firsts" were over for awhile, but Allison and I played an intergral part in Lucas' first trip to Frying Pan Farm Park this morning! His mom Meredith and I went to middle school and high school together and thanks to Facebook have been able to reconnect and reflect on memories, bad hair stylin' and boy drama. Oh, my future scares me with a little girl!

We did our usual routine, hit the farmers market, then the playground and finally to see the animals. Lucas was a trooper thorough it all, not a peep. We showed him the pigs, horses and goats. There was one goat that seemed to like Allison, she would pet his head and touch his neck. Leaps and bounds from when we would first go and she was terrified. When we were in the car coming home, she told me that the goat told her what her his name was...."duckling". Seems to work.
Allison was quick to tell Lucas all the sounds that the animals make. Except for the goat. What exactly does a goat say? In the Booker house, it's "goat, goat". To other mom's at the farm, it was "baa", "mmaaa" and someone even said when they talk it sounds like they are saying "heeeelllllppp". Who knew it would start such conversation.

After the animals we headed back to the playground. Lucas drifted off to sleep, he was so tired after learning all of the animal sounds. Allison showed some independence on the playground and didn't need me at every turn. That was great because it allowed Meredith and I some time to chat. Always nice to look back at fond memories and we were so happy to get together and share in one of Lucas' "firsts"!

The Zoo

We went to the zoo with our friends Luli, Fiona and Jen back in June. This was before the illness marathon. Looking back, I wasn't feeling 100% at the zoo, so that was definitely the beginning of the crud.
The girls had a wonderful time at the zoo and it was nice for Jen and I to spend some time catching up on all of the latest details.
Jen is a much better blogger than myself and actually I can't remember all the details of our zoo trip, so check out her blog and the scoop on our trip. Her blog is familia santiago!

I couldn't say it better myself! Really!

Allison and I went to the National Museum of Natural History on Monday with our friends Jen, Luil and Fiona. Jen also has a blog and she talked about the day and did a much better job than what I was planning on. So check out her blog on the right, Familia Santiago. I am going to post some pictures. We had a blast and Allison is still talking about the dinosaurs and telling me that they aren't scary!

Luli's 4th Birthday

Allison attended Lourdes' (Luli) birthday party this morning. She had a lot of fun. She made a police man badge (that was the theme) and ate pizza (two slices) and of course birthday cake. Two LoCo sheriff's showed up to surprise Luli and show off their patrol cars, but Allison was too scared to visit. So, we hung out in the family room until everyone came back inside. Then for a few moments she became brave and we went outside, then the Sheriff's turned on the sirens briefly and we were back inside in a flash. Allison had a lot of fun and all the way home she talked about the party and blew her whistle. She was very excited to come home and show her Daddy all of the good stuff she got at the party.
By far the funniest thing for me was when she sat down to eat her cake. Please note in the picture, she has the ENTIRE piece of cake on her fork. It was too cute. I also enjoyed the fact that as she sat on the floor eating her pizza she was lady like and kept her ankles crossed.

Corn on the Cob and Frying Pan Park

This weekend I had a yard sale at Connie's house. It's always funny to me to see what people buy. I had my old comforter with matching curtains all from Country Curtains and that was one of the last things to go--my old sneakers went first! I made over 80 dollars, not too shabby! Brent, Allison and Bailey came down before lunch and we spent the afternoon and then had dinner at Connie's or G-G's as Allison calls her. It was the first time that Allison had corn on the cob. She first began just licking the butter off, then sucking and finally taking a bite. She did pretty good!
And she seemed to like it too!

On Sunday we got up fairly early and then went to see the farm animals at Frying Pan Park. That is truly the perfect place for toddlers and preschoolers. Allison had a blast. Then we ran into one of her classmates, Sarah, that Allison is actually good friends with. You know as good a friend as you could be at this age. They ran around together and then Allison decided it was a good idea to hold Sarah's hand while they were walking. We all scrambled for our cameras. It was soo cute! They ran around together and talked to the chickens, ducks, turkeys, pigs, and cows. It was interesting to see Allison interact with her peer group. She can be a little bossy! Wonder who she gets that from? :)
I am including some of the pictures of Sarah and Allison here. So adorable!
